by Pu on September 19, 2011

Taplayer’s TtV Photo Studio is currently free for download in the App Store. This Through the Viewfinder photo app for iPhone was previously available for $0.99/€0.79/£0.69. The offer is valid for a limited time only.

TtV Photo StudioTtV Photo Studio comes as a replacement for it predecessor, TtV Studio Pro. Taplayer greatly improved the previous versions of their Through the Viewfinder camera, making it more usable than before and fully functional. TtV Photo Studio comes with beautiful classic viewfinder styles and basic editing tools, such as black and white and sepia filters, plus opacity, brightness and contrast controls. If you are into the square format and vintage effects appeal to you, then you should consider trying TtV Photo Studio, especially now that it comes for free.

It’s not a replacement for the real-time TtV Camera app. It’s a complementary post-processing app. But it does replace TtV Studio Pro.

That’s right. It was a lapsus. The fact is I will always consider TtV Camera as a lesser version of the other two apps.

I take it because the iPhone version of the app does not support high res? Well, I believe it’s all about processing power, the A4 is not powerful enough to handle real-time effect and high res simultaneously like the A5.

Which is why MovieCam (another dev’s real-time video and camera iPad 2 app) came first before MovieCam Go (iPhone version). 😉

Real-time may be conceptually appealing, but when it takes away from photo taking, it’s a gimmick and I am against it. Developers should focus on priorities and when photography is involved, taking optimal photos should be pursued at all costs. In general though, as I remember writing at the time of the review, TtV Camera felt too much like a prototype. It was not only a problem with resolution, it was also the interface and how everything else worked. It felt a bit rushed.

Ah, I see. However, my experience in taking pictures and videos with apps like TtV, MovieCam, and 8mm HD has been really fun and great. Again, it could be because A5’s powerful processing power as my appotography device is iPad 2, not iPhone 4. 😉

Lazy people want to travel light and the iPhone still fits my pocket much better than the iPad 😉

This lazy people on the other hand rarely use the phone but don’t want to carry a dumbphone. :-p
