Coming Soon: Woxom SlingShot

by Pu on September 17, 2012

Woxom is launching the SlingShot, a smartphone stabilizer to fit all camera phones that was especially designed as an aid for mobile videographers to record videos with their devices without having to worry about camera shake. Woxom’s stabilizer will be out on September 24, 2012.

The SlingShot is intended for smooth and secure one-hand control. Its acetal copolymer body features a flexible cradle where any camera phone can be positioned easily, while its handle comes with a set of legs to turn it instantly into a portable table-top tripod. Woxom’s stabilizer can also be mounted on any standard tripod by unscrewing its cradle.

Charles Waugh, the creator, is a professional photographer and design engineer from Portland, Oregon. Waugh claimed that he decided to design his own stabilizer because he was dissatisfied with those already available on the market. The project was successfully funded on Kickstarter, where backers helped by pledging over $70,000.

The SlingShot will be available for a retail price of $19.95 from www.woxom.net, Adorama, Photojojo, and a number of other authorized retailers. You can pre-order your SlingShot before the official release from Woxom’s website.

Videographers? What about photographers? Is this suited for them too?

Of course, even if the stabilizer is described as an accessory especially designed for videographers, it can be used for taking photos as well.
