Repix 1.2 Out Now

With new filters and brushes.

by Pu on May 1, 2013

Repix 1.2 is out and with it come a few extras: first of all brushes and filters. The app is still free to download, but the latest extras are only available as in-app purchases.

Repix iPhone

The Grunge brushes are one of the new additions to the arsenal of Repix. There are four of them in the same pack: Scratches, Dust, Stains and Tags. They will bring a bit of urban dirt to your Repix images and with them you can easily add cracks, blemishes and and graffiti-like elements to your creations. The Grunge brushes are available as in-app purchase for $1.99.

Repix Jazzy filters
More filters were also added to those already available (for free) in version 1.0. The Jazzy filters are Monroe, Royal Blue, Toaster and Poster. Three of them are vibrant colored cross process effects and one is a black and white with an extreme contrasty and cartoony look. The four Jazzy filters are available as in-app purchase for $0.99.

This really is one of my favorite new apps!

I hope they can do more updates on future dates

Did anyone else notice the Comics filter quietly dropped between these updates? Hate it when the apps do that – Gotham still hurts.

I know the feeling. I’m still hurt because of the infamous Gotham affair as well! But in the case of Cartoonize I think the developer stated the effect is now part of the Posterize brush.

Thanks Pu.

Taking away (or hiding) any functionality that has originally been part of the app is just BAD design, not to mention the UX. From where I stand, it’s taking users’ loyalty for granted. In a weird sense of way, that is exactly what Ghostbird has done last week, isn’t it?

Re the Comics brush – you are right, it is indeed the ‘plus’ of posterize now – and, unnecessarily hidden, I think.

The effect was called Cartoonize?
