A Quasi-Summer in São Paulo

by Pu on June 8, 2013

The weather has been crazy recently and here in Lisbon there were not many occasions to take summery pictures yet. This has nothing to do with the new extra pack released by Hipstamatic, but it has to do with the poor Portuguese who, like many others is Europe, are currently wondering why the weather gods have been so cruel to steal sun and the associated heatwaves they were eagerly expecting from under their noses. The Portuguese, and the Brazilian too, have developed high tolerance to heat; even when they complain about it, you know they are somehow giggling inside.

Perhaps we are talking stereotypes—hell yes, we probably are—but Brazil is for the romantics the ultimate summer dream, a country were the sultriness of nights and days is constantly inviting everybody to drink caipirinha on the beach and take it easy. The São Paulo Hipstapak is inspired by the—real? unreal?—fame and magic of the country and by the city of São Paulo in particular. It comes with two items, the Madalena lens and the Robusta film. Madalena is a warm faded lens, with a strong touch of dark purples in the shadows. Robusta is a sweet vibrant film effect adorned with a rounded white border and burned inner edges.

Here are a few shots taken with the Madalena lens and the Robusta film combo. They were taken in a boring, overcast, unsummery and unbrazilian Saturday afternoon, among dogs rolling in mud and people trying hard to forget about epically failed barbecues. I realize that perhaps I didn’t put the necessary effort into them, but I was busy throwing tennis balls 90% of the time.

You folks can get the new São Paulo Hipstapak and bring some summer to your muddy photos too, but I honestly hope the weather gods are not being jerks in your part of the world. The pack is available from the HipstaMart for $0.99/€0.89.

Pu – It’s winter, in the land of Oz. BTW, what do you think about the new VSCo cam?

Haha, of course it is. Even though it’s summer in the dystopian universe of the northern-hemisphere-centric collectivity. But since the weather is being so weird across Europe, the weather gods may be confused in the south of the world too.

About the new Vsco: I’m trying it at this time and will write a bit about it in the coming days 😉

“Gods Must Be Crazy” Hehehe. Oh, and, I just realized what those yellow rice grain like things in the picture (3rd on the list) are. Plain iCamera, or olliclip, too?

It was this: https://appotography.com/2011/08/18/photojojo-macro-wide-angle-lens-review/ Unfortunately, over the months I dropped all around Iceland the other three lenses and now only the macro is left.
