iOS 7 Brings New Features To Photos

In the course of today’s event at WWDC – Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced among other things the release of their new iOS 7. The latest operating system will bring major changes to the way users experience their iDevices, and iShooters will have their share of changes.

iOS 7 Photos
Among the new features the update to iOS 7 is going to introduce, iShooters should keep their eyes on a few interesting ones that will definitely affect the way they take, edit and organize their pictures closely.

iOS 7 live photo filters
First of all the update will concern the picture taking and editing stages. Users will be able to pick a square ratio from within the Camera app, to match the specs of many popular editing and sharing apps, including Instagram. Changing among normal camera, panoramic camera, square camera and video camera will only require a swipe of your finger. Users will also be able to choose among a selection of ready-for-use live photo filters to process their shots istantly.

Another change is represented by the “Moments” feature, a practical way to organize photos taken and stored in your Camera Roll. Moments indexes photos mainly according to their location and time they were taken, creating easy to browse collections.

Finally, the sharing. The AirDrop feature will make sharing photos with your friends a cinch. Users will simply have to select a photo and tap on their friends’ icons to share their images with them. Sharing with multiple people at once will be as easy as sharing with just one, it will only take a few more taps.

AirDrop sharing
iOS 7 will be available for iPhone 4, 4s and 5, iPad 2, 3 and 4, iPad mini, iPod Touch 5th.

Yep. Quite exciting.

Hoping for two things, though:
1. A RAW format compatibility (the file size could be a deterrant, but would monetize iCloud, no?) .
2. A toggle switch to turn off the auto app updates, so I can back up the app version before upgrading it (absolutely hate the unwanted junk that sometimes sneaks in under the guise of “bug fixes”).

Curious to see the improvements. Hoping they will add the options ILAR mentioned as well in the future.
