Mobile Masters PROOF Call for Entries

All mobile artists and photographers are invited to take part in the upcoming Mobile Masters PROOF, a contest aimed at the promotion mobile photography as an art form and at assessing its most distinctive potential. Mobile Masters was born as one of the several projects of designer, author and photograher Dan Marcolina, also known for his other mobile-oriented feats, AppAlchemy and iObsessed.

The previous edition of Mobile Masters was by invitation only. The juried contest format was adopted for the second edition to embrace a wider range of photographic and artistic influences and visions. The most deserving artists will earn a feature spread in the upcoming Mobile Masters iTunes app. Winners will be announced in the course of MacWorld in San Francisco on March 26. iPhone 5s and 5c Officially Announced

In the course of today’s media event that took place at the auditorium of the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, Apple announced the release of two new iPhone models and confirmed the release of iOS 7 to the public for September 18.

Pixelist, Oil Paintings From Your Photos

There are often mixed feelings when it comes to photographic paintings and photos altered with painterly effects. Many photographers have been exploring the possibilities of the latter creating and applying artistic filters to photos to enhance their visual impact. But do you need art filters when you can have the real thing? True, not everybody is a painter and having a specialist craft a custom painting does not come as cheap as downloading an app to apply art filters on your fancy snapshots. However, if the idea of turning digital photos into traditional artwork sounds intriguing and you have some money to invest on it, you should check out Pixelist, a new service to create hand-made oil paintings out of your favorite images.

iOS 7 Brings New Features To Photos

In the course of today’s event at WWDC – Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced among other things the release of their new iOS 7. The latest operating system will bring major changes to the way users experience their iDevices, and iShooters will have their share of changes.

EyeEm Lisbon Masterclass & Photowalk – May 11 2013

EyeEm organized via its Ambassador Fernando Cruz an event for this Saturday, May 11. There will be a special phoneography masterclass followed by a scenic photowalk through the city of Lisbon. The event — aimed primarily at Eyeem members, but not restricted to them — will be of interest for mobile shooters in Lisbon and surrounding areas.
